Why Investing in Wedding Coordination is the BEST money you’ll spend

Picture this:

It's your wedding day, and instead of relaxing with a mimosa in hand, laughing with your BFFs while you get ready, you’re sending your mom to set up your placecards, and your maid of honour is running out to pick up lunch for your wedding party. Now mom misses the iconic photo of helping you into your dress, and your MoH got a parking ticket, and is all sweaty and irritated upon her return.

Your job as a bride or a groom on your wedding day should be to relax and celebrate with friends and family, not to worry about who’s going to make sure the florist put the appropriate amount of greens on each centerpiece, OR to pick up your DJ (and all of their equipment) when they blow a tire on a country road, OR to make sure grandma’s in the room before you start the speeches.

So why, then, is it that so many couples balk at making an investment in a wedding planner? Hiring a professional, experienced planner for Wedding Coordination (if Full Planning isn’t in the budget) is the very most important investment you can make to ensure your wedding day is memorable for all the right reasons. It’s why at least 1/4 of our 85 Google 5-star reviews say something along the lines of the following:

5 star google review from previous bride Amanda Jones who hired Unmistakably You for Wedding Coordination talking about the team being "not only organized but hard working" and "they took so much stress off me, my husband, and my parents"

Seriously…. at least 25% of our reviews mention something about how our services are THE BEST INVESTMENT YOU CAN MAKE IN YOUR WEDDING. We can’t make this stuff up. :)

In terms of investment, we find with the majority of our couples (of course, we work with all kinds of budgets and priorities!), our fees are about the same as the cost of their DJ. We’re often about half the cost of most couples’ photographers, and we usually come in around 2/3 of the floral and decor budget.

However, we understand that, unlike flowers or food, the service we provide isn’t tangible. It’s impossible to see, hear or taste our contributions to your wedding. But we guarantee that you’ll feel completely different with Unmistakably You on board than without. Our support starts from the minute you bring us on board your wedding team. We provide a beautiful, custom portal with ALL of the resources you need to plan your wedding on your own, as well as monthly email support, and we’re a sounding board if and when you need one. We’ll build your detailed itinerary weeks before your wedding, ensure there haven’t been any miscommunications between you and your vendors, attend your rehearsal, and run the show on your wedding day so you don’t have to. You can’t see or touch any of that, but we promise you’ll feel much more relaxed and at ease with us on your side.

In my opinion (and OK, I own the business, so I’m a wee bit biased!) the most compelling reason for you to hire Unmistakably You to coordinate your wedding day and the months before is that we allow the other vendors you’ve hired to do their jobs. It’s quite often the Photographer, the DJ and the Caterer who are happiest to see us on the wedding day. If we’re not there, it’s THEM who end up doing OUR job, and that means they can’t focus on THEIR job (which is, respectively, to take killer, creative AF photographs, keep your dancefloor packed with people having the time of their lives, or to serve the best damn braised shortribs your guests have ever had.)

Not convinced? Here are just a few ways we allow your other vendors to do THEIR job, not OURS:

The Photographer's Focus—On Photos, Not the Clock

Your photographer is there to capture every magical moment, from the teary-eyed vows to Uncle Bob's enthusiastic dance moves. The last thing they need is to double as a timekeeper. A wedding coordinator ensures that photographers concentrate on their artistry, not the schedule. With Unmistakably You at the helm, your photographer can focus on getting those perfect shots while WE worry about keeping the day on track.

DJs Should Pump Up the Party, Not Panic Over Timing

A DJ's mission is to keep the dance floor alive and the energy electric. They shouldn't be sweating over whether your mom is back from the restroom before starting the speeches. A wedding coordinator communicates with all parties involved, ensuring that the DJ can focus on spinning tracks that make you want to dance like nobody's watching. By managing the timeline, coordinators let DJs do what they do best: rock the party.

Caterers Need Clarity, Not Chaos

Your caterer should be dressing the salad and garnishing the mains, not worrying about whether or not dinner will start on time. Without a coordinator, caterers might be left wondering if it's time to serve the main course or if the speeches have run into overtime. Having Unmistakably You on board ensures that caterers are in the loop, allowing them to focus on serving delicious food at precisely the right moment, without a side of stress.

The Coordinator—Your Wedding Day Maestro

(Those of you who know me, Amy, know that I have a Master’s Degree in Music. Please indulge me for a second as I make a slightly tenuous connection to the world of music): Think of a wedding coordinator as the conductor of your wedding orchestra. Every vendor (musician) knows their part perfectly, but they need someone to help it fit together with the rest of the wedding (orchestra). The UY Wedding Planner (conductor) takes each individual vendor’s (musician’s) part, and sensitively helps it fit into the whole wedding (performance). Without the coordinator (conductor), the whole wedding (symphony) turns into a hot, disorganized mess.

Ultimately, hiring a wedding coordinator is like having a personal superhero who ensures that every aspect of your wedding runs smoothly. They allow photographers to capture sweet, candid moments, DJs to focus on playing the correct first dance songs, and caterers to make sure the beef isn’t overdone—all without a hitch. (Not to mention allowing the other 5-15 vendors you’ve likely hired to focus on their jobs, instead of trying to solve problems that they, quite frankly, have no business, or responsibility, trying to solve). So, why invest a small fortune in ALL of your other vendors, and NOT hire a coordinator to connect all the dots and line up all the ducks? Hire Unmistakably You to manage your wedding day, and give yourself the gift of a stress-free, joyous celebration. After all, your only job should be to say "I do" (and maybe cut a rug on the dance floor).
